This peak looks close by and easy. We started climbing at 5.15 in the morning, took me until 7 to go up, a really, really heavy ordeal!!! Well, then the feeling is exhilarating, beautiful, happy, shiny, but to get to it, I was struggling to summon my powers and breath almost at every third or fourth step, especially in the... More

My cousin and I reached the summit of Kala Pattar back in 1985 on a crisp October morning to be treated to the clearest skies imaginable and the picture perfect view of Everest. However, after staying on the summit for a couple hours, it started to snow flurry so at that moment, we hastily began our descent. Luck for us... More

A must for those who make it to Gorakshep, Kala Patthar offers a gritty and gripping climb with fantastic views. Not much need be said about such places....it's all about the experience. Those with breathing issues may want to skip this climb as oxygen begins to get rare. Take each step with caution as the upper section of the climb... More

Climbing kala pattar for some reason is much harder than walking to base camp. You have to get up early in the morning so it is very very cold. I had to stop walking every 5 steps or so as I was unable to breath. Views at the top are amazing and feel like great achievement.

This is a must visit place when you arrive in Gorekshep. It take about 3 hours to arrive at the top. Take you time to climb and ensure you have fully acclimatised prior to attempting this. I would recommend visiting this in the afternoon for excellent view and photo of Mount Everest and the base camp.
