The Citadel is one of the best-preserved 16th century fortresses in the Nordic countries, built by King Christian III of Denmark between 1549 and 1559. In the 1800s the Citadel was used as a prison for convicts with life sentences and for vagrants. Then it was converted to a women's prison that was in use until 1940. There is a cafe in the grounds and you can fish in the moat. There's no admission for the area around the fortress but if you'd like to go inside the Citadel, you'd need to go on a guidad tour. It costs 75 SEK for adult and 40 SEK for children (7-15)

It was part of my many castles through out Sweden tour and the time allocated to it was well worth it. It is a busy location, many locals go there for a scroll in the park. It was on a Saturday and the weather was...More

I was here in winter 2011-2012, it was amazing. The citadel is beautiful, although it was winter it wasn't snowing, weather was nice for exploring the citadel.

Walk around (3km) the castle that is build in the 1300s, overseeing Öresund, island Ven and Denmark. The castle is located in the heart of Landskrona so you can either bring your coffee or enjoy it at a close by coffeeshop

The structure popped up on google maps. So when we stayed in the neighborhood we stopped by. The stroll around was better than the buildings. I was a little disappointed with the buildings. The significance of the buildings was in the 17th century. Later it...More

I spotted the moats when using Google Maps. Because of the unusual shapes, I took a detour to visit Landskrona. The fort itself is just OK but I was impressed with the moats. Lots of interesting history.
