We were snowed out and could not complete the much anticipated hike of the 3-day Kora but after a arduous 3 day drive from Lhasa to Burang county via Mansarovar we were happy to find signs of civilization in terms of hot shower and western toilets :)

I was part of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra during July 2016. It was a 21 days long program and the highlight or the most exciting part was the visit to the Charan Sparsh of Mt Kailash. We reached the Deraphuk camp on the first day of Kailash parikrama. The weather was perfect so our Liason Officer permitted us to have... More

Challenging .... Spiritual.... One cannot circumnabulate Kailash without being humbled by the devotees who do it in prostration. 52km reaching 5649m.

We recently did the 3-day kora (pilgrimage) around Mt Kailash. All along, we were worried incase we physically wouldn't be able to deal with it or the altitude as we'd read many stories, particularly about Indian pilgrims who weren't able to manage....we've since seen the reason for that 😂 The walk was actually alot easier than we had thought. Day... More

Sacred circumambulation, the 'kora' of Kailash is the most sacred pilgrimage. Kailash kora is arduous at high altitude that covers 52 kilometres through a pass of 5,600 metres above sea level. Most Tibetans walk it in a day, Westeners in a few:) Kailash and its surroundings are Shangri-La, outstandingly beautiful in every way. The colours are sharp, feelings inside are... More

I have written another review on our experience with the kailash tour but forgot to mention - this is specially for ppl traveling from india. You may think you have done a lot of yatras but kailash is very difficult mainly coz of its altitude and thin air. Indians are not used to this. Our group all the older folks... More
