Hidden Gem. NO tourists. Waterfalls, hiking, great views, caves and overall a day long magical tour done w. terra diversion bikes from Barcelona. The monastery is abandoned, the buildings are very old and picturesque and the waterfalls and mini falls and drips are just pure joy. On a windy, sunny day we felt like we got treated to some lovely story book place. Romantic and secluded and just a delight. The guide was very accommodating and took us to a hot spring little village too and if it had been warmer I think we could have gotten him to let us go swim at the bottom of the falls too. do this tour.

Beautiful mountain, waterfalls, cool springs, caves and well prepared for visitors to walk through without difficulties. There's a playground for children and parents, you can bring your own picnic basket or purchase food at a little cafe at the playground. It's a place worth visiting and bring your bathing suits just in case you might want to swim down the stream at the bottom.

This was one of the most fulfilling trips I have taken. During the trip, I felt connected to the higher powers. Adding a visit to the Black Madonna heightened the experience. This was beautiful day!

Sant Miquel del Fai is a great day hike outside of Barcelona that is not touristy. Nice easy hike with beautiful views of the waterfall and monastery.
We went there with Terra Diversions for a price of 74 Euros each: http://www.terradiversions.com/eng/StMiquelHikeTour.asp. Well worth the cost, which includes lunch. Ask for Albert, he was an amazing guide.

We have visited sant miquel del fai in 2016 winter. It is an amazing nature spot that I recommend to visit. There is a nice offroad route next to the monastery, Bertí cliffs! You will need a 4x4 vehicle.

This historic old monastry is reached by a winding road with fantastic views. Visitors need to be good walkers to get around the site as there are some steep climbs.
The entrance had a notice to say that the restaurant was open between 11 and 4pm but despite it being a hot day with a good number of visitors, there was nowhere to buy a drink or anything other than at the entrance!
At the furthest extremity of the site there is a cave you can enter. Hard hats are provided but there are no staff on duty and no provision to call for help if someone has a fall. The steps can be slippery. Worth the visit but you need to be fit and agile to bend to get through the cave.

We did a tour with Terra Diversion Bikes from Barcelona for about $80 I think to St. Miquel. The tour included transportation there and a stop in a small Spanish village with hot springs. Then we hiked to St. Miquel an abandoned monastery at the top of a good, stiff cliff. We had lovely vistas of waterfalls, rock formations, plants and lovely Spanish houses on the hike. Once there we loved all the waterfalls and buildings, the caves, the view, the ducks in the mini lake and the huge waterfall that you can walk behind. It was magical. I dipped my feet in the glacial spring creating all this wonder and laughed for joy of this pristine and marvelous place that few know off. We then had a simple picnic provided by the tour and then started back down and back to Barcelona. The tour was great since I think it would be hard to find on your own and the guide was very friendly and easy to talk to. The tour is a little strenuous so be in shape or stop often. Would do again and again.

This is an amazing place to visit. Beautiful scenery off-the-beaten track of big tourist masses. Very typical visit of catalan families to spend a day out. In the same day, you can visit Cim d'Aligues. Your children will enjoy it so much.

We drove there. The drive itself is amazing - winding up the mountains with fresh cold air. Can't go wrong with Google Maps. It is quite a distance from Barcelona - don't think it is a very popular spot with foreign tourists because there isn't any tour busses in sight. But very popular with locals. Most of them come in big families, with picnic baskets.
Entrance fee is 8 Euros, and the site closes at 5PM. Wear sturdy shoes, because there is a fair amount of walking with two caves to explore in between. There is one restaurant there but it was closed when we were there - so bring your own water and snacks.
Really lovely place. The monastery itself isn't very impressive - though it was built into the rocks it is a small place. There is a museum with some old artifacts on display too but not very impressive. We feel the walk and views are inspiring. Love the spot behind the waterfalls. Set aside around 2-3 hours, longer if you want to take a picnic basket and have a meal there. Lots of seats/tables at one area, even a playground for the children.

Sé que está cerrado por obras y que tardarán. Pero ultimamente veo fotos recientes del salto de agua y me gustaría saber si aunque esté el monasterio cerrado, ¿se puede ver el salto de agua o caminar sin entrar en ningún sitio?

Монастырь закрыт уже несколько лет. Судя по информации в Интернете - проблемы с финансированием. Так что в ближайшее время восстановления работы не ожидается.
