Our family is always up for doing something a little offbeat. This fits the bill. When staying in Bryson City for a vacation during Thanksgiving a few years ago, we went for a drive. Drove out to see the "Road to Nowhere". It is a long, beautiful, yet eerie drive. It really feels like it is going nowhere. You park... More

After taking the trip to the Fontana Dam. We went to the road to nowhere. It's all sad. Most of the people that were promised the road are no longer living. The boat takes them to the old cemetery sites only once a year. Just think of all the history underneath that water. The towns that were flooded over to... More

The drive on the road to no where was beautiful, the scenery was breath taking. The tunnel was ok my young grandson did not like it. I really don't think I will be going back

After a stop in Bryson City for a bite to eat and a great boutique (Humanite), we headed to the Road to Nowhere. Easy to find as you just keep straight down the main street in Bryson City. The drive is very pretty and there are a few overlooks to stop. Make sure you look at the mountains from all... More

Beautiful drive to get here with some lake views. Very interesting to read up on it and then go there.

This was fun trip since I was staying on the road that led to no where for vacation. It is 15 minute drive through windy and curvy roads. The view on the road overlooking the lake is fantastic. There is a place to stop over and see the view. Parking is at the top by the and it is a... More

The drive to the 'Road to Nowhere' is very scenic and there are plenty of places to pull off and take photos for us photographers. However once you reach the tunnel it is rather disappointing. It is covered with graffiti, very long dark and creepy even in the day time. I would describe it as the perfect place to rob... More

If you have seen the movie "Spirited Away", this tunnel looks like it. Very nice road and overlook to get there.

A 10 minute beautiful drive from Bryson city leads to the Road to Nowhere drive. The drive is awesome and the pull off areas had beautiful views of the vallye and the lake. The tunnel is short but was wet and slippery - so we did not walk inside. There are hikes beyond the tunnel too, but we did not... More

The Road to Nowhere also known as Lake View Drive is a short drive from downtown Bryson City. It's about a 6 mile drive in The Smoky Mountains. There were several pull offs along the way with beautiful views of the mountains. There is a small parking lot towards the end of the road on the right side so you... More
