Everything was great! The chicken laap was absolutely delicious and the restaurant is a great place to chill out right by the river. It's wonderful hearing Khamla talk about his community and the Lao people. I learned a lot.

We have just returned from a lovely half day with Khamla and his wife. Their cooking class is about a 30 minute boat ride north from Don Det where they have a built a beautiful bamboo kitchen overlooking the river away from the busier islands. We first had a tour of the village before starting to cook multiple traditional dishes. They also run a homestay, handicraft workshops and a free English school for the village so, if you can, it’s worth taking some extra stationary supplies to donate.
