It was during sunset, great ride! Dont miss if you are around Kingston. The ride was free. There is a beach on the island very nice sandy beach to try out!

What a great deal... FREE. best to walk on and not take your car. We took the ferry over to Wolfe Island and had a blast just hanging out in town...

We arrived by ferry from Kingston, Ontario and always wanted to go to the Wolfe island ferry to Watertown, New York. We expected a larger ferry not knowing it was small only to hold not more than 10 vehicles. We didn't know we had to pay $16 plus $2 each per person usd. We handed the friendly gentleman $20 usd.... If you are at a lose end one day, hop over to Wolfe Island. 20 min free ferry. Go to the bakery, grab some lovely home baking, have a drive round the island. Nothing really note worthy to see. You can get to the USA if you drive the 11km across the island. There is a ferry to get you... More

THERE IS A FEE TO RIDE HORNE'S FERRY OF AROUND $17 USD for the car + $2 USD for every passenger other than the driver. The FREE FERRY is the Canadian ferry you will need to take afterwards to get to Kingston and mainland Canada (more on that later). Taking Horne's ferry isn't cheap but depending on where you are... The ferry service has been owned by the same family for over 200 years. This is a small ship which can handle about 6 vehicles at a time. No camping trailers for sure. It goes between Cape Vincent, NY to Wolfe Island, Ontario. The scenery along the way is beautiful. NOTE this is not a free ride.

We had rented a cottage on Wolfe island and would take the ferry twice a day. It takes 20 minutes to get to Wolfe island. The set up is very well organized. We suggest that you get in the line up a half an hour before the ferry is scheduled to leave, if you are taking your car.

We arrived at Horne's ferry at around 1:45 pm. There was only one other car waiting. The ferry wasn't scheduled to go until 2:30 which would have made the Wolfe Island Ferry's 3:30 departure to Kingston impossible to make. We asked the captain if he would consider leaving early for an extra fee so we could make the wolfe Island... More
