    Great dance
We came to Uluwatu temple mostly because of the dance, like most people do probably. We arrived at about 17.00, so 1 hour before the dance and we got our tickets. There are a lot of people there, so if you want to get Nice view, also with sunset behind you must go there at least half an hour before and sit there and wait. The price for the dance is 150k idr for one person and for the price we must say we expected a little bit more than it was shown in the dance. The most interesting part is the fire at the end and the white monkey jumping around but i think that without this two parts, the show would not be really interesting. Many people were leaving in the middle of the show which is really not approriate but it shows that people were a little dissappointed. All credit to the guys that are singing all the time like in trance that must be really hard to do for one hour straight. So all in all it was nice but i would say that 150k per person is a little to much for what you see. Also i urge anyone who maybe in the middle get dissapointed and want to leave to wait till the end to see the most exciting part of the dance.

    Amazing
For an Indian - Ramayan theater is something which almost every one would have watched but this Ramayan depiction was at another level and completely different from what is there in India. It has music, dance, comedy, fire - everything and best was the Hanuman actor, he made the whole show so amazing. The fire thing was also very nicely put up. Also please note theater gets full very fast so to get desired seats to arrive atleast 30 minutes early (they do put additional seats so you will surely get seat but always better to be present in advance) There are many Kecak shows around the Indonesia, I would highly recommend to see this one.

    Have to see it once!!
One of the best shows that I have ever seen. There is NO Orchesta, but it has around of 70 choirs men accompanied There are performers making odd sounds from their own mouths and it seems so melodious. They depict the story of the Hindu myth, The Ramayana. The performers were superb in their art as they displayed real zeal and performed to their very best. The costumes used were of top quality and top-notch. Special mention of the person who played Hanuman. He was so energetic and made everyone in the audience laugh to splits. The show will definitely keep you engaged. Must see when you are here. The sun setting at the backdrop of the Ocean is a beholding sight. 1

Show lasted about 45 mins and best to purchase ticket online to secure seat. Else risk having tickets sold out or waiting for the later show. Great view of sunset too

Decided last minute we wanted to see this show during our stay in Uluwatu. Our driver got us there around 4pm for the 6pm show. He arranged to get our tickets for us day off. We got there early and baked in the sun until the show started. I would show up a few minutes before to avoid sitting in the hard concrete for longer than necessary. They pack you in very tight together and fill in the walkways. The show was nice, chanting was magical. For me, I was uncomfortable sitting for so long, which affected my experience. There are monkeys but they didn’t bother me or others like they do at the money forests. No food inside so eat before you come.

A very cool 45 minute event which is worth the - ridiculous - queue to get in. The show itself tells a story over 4 stages, and the highlight is of course the white monkey actor. Would recommend reading the leaflet provided for the information. Highly recommend getting here before 2-3pm to purchase a ticket for the show, as the crowds get ridiculous.

What an amazing experience. I would highly recommend booking through a tour company to beat the queues and enjoy a personal guided tour. Our tour guide picked us up promptly, was friendly and very knowledgeable. The Kecak Fire Dance was very good, rather humorous in some sections. The temple, monkeys and sunset was well worth the visit. We booked dinner as well. The location of the restaurant was amazing, located right on the beach. The food was great, just be mindful of the fishbones if you have children or elderly persons with you.. All in all I would highly recommend this experience.

The concept and the program is really good.
The only challenge is the long wait the counter opens at 4 PM for the show at 6 PM but as it gets crowded you should be there by 3 PM and post the ticket purchase you need to wait in the Sun for the show to begin.
Overall we enjoyed the show and recommend to all

Nice temple with dance in the end... There are 2 shows, at 6 pm and at 7 pm... Would recommend the 6 pm show ... You need to reach at 4 pm or before to ensure tickets to the first show ... Ask your driver to stand in the ticket line while you can see the temple... Ticket price is 150k IDR in June 2023..... There are many theories as to where to sit ... I would suggest sit opposite to the 2 monkey status near to the exit.... Sit at the bottom most place to watch things close but you would miss some things when the actors stand up so better to sit in the fourth or fifth row so you can watch the sunset, watch the full dance and you can sneak out by 6.45 to avoid the rush of traffic.... Remember you get free water at the entry so tender to take add much and stay hydrated... The gate opens at 5pm by the day I visited thru opened it at 4.45.... go in early to get the best seats .. if you with children also sitting at the bottom can be tricky cause of the noise and the fire at the end....

Tends to be overcrowded. It’s well done no doubt - bad a very badly organised experience over all. The monkeys are a menace and need many locals to manage them.
If you get there early stand in line for the experience and grab yourself good seats - which will be in the centre of stage.

This was very hyped. It was very crowded and overrated. The dance was just rushing through the story. It was very confusing; wether they were trying to focus on the story or make the audience laugh. Most of it was very boring and it put us to sleep. We watched a very similar dance in Ubud at Saraswati temple. It was mesmerising and not half as crowded.

If you are keen on watching the performance then book tickets online to avoid the long queues. The performance was skippable. If you go to Uluwatu then you should just enjoy the beautiful sunset and watch the colors change in the sky.

Don’t bother. Terribly organised, dangerous crowd control and the show itself was average. Tried to cram in as many people as possible. Much better traditional Balinese shows than this. Waste of time.

Traditional Bali Dance, a story telling the battle from the Hindu epic Ramayana in which Prince Rama fights the demonic Giant Ravana - who abducted Sita, Rama’s wife - with the help of the monkey god, Hanuman, and the vulture demigod, Jatayu. The dance is aimed as a form of exorcism or to repel evil spirits in which dancers fall into a trance.

Instead of the traditional “gamelan” orchestra which usually accompanies other Balinese traditional performances, the Kecak is simply accompanied by the chanting of the chorus of men representing an army of monkeys continuously intoning “Cak! Cak! Cak!” or “Keh-Chak" in polyrhythmic sounds during almost the entire performance. Around 50-70 people do the Kecak dance movement in a circle, one will act as a solo singer or dancer, one person as a storyteller, and 2-5 people will act as Rama, Sita, Ravana, Hanuman, and Jatayu.
