This is on the moon side of the famous lake. It is usually a stop when you are leaving the place and going down south of Taiwan.

The architecture and building are amazing. The scenery is spectacular. The introductory film by round screen at the mutimedia center is also attractive.Sitting at the outdoor cafe is another cozy way to enjoy the surroundings.

The Xiangshan Visitor Center promotes the harmonious integration between human habitation and the natural world. The structure consists of two curved concrete wings and walls with exterior wood pathway over infinity  pool. It seems to fly from the natural landscaping into the waters of Sun Moon Lake.

Nearby the visitor center, the Xiangshan Scenic Outlook sky ridge made of flexible steel which cantilevers over Sun Moon Lake. It felt shaky when other folks walk by as I was taking pictures. Just hold onto the railing.

Here I felt the LAND AND WATER come together ... at the Xiangshan Visitor Center.

We cycled from Shuishe to Xiangshan Visitor Centre. It was a pleasant and easy ride and we stopped at many places along the way for photoshoots. This visitor centre is quite big, and even on a weekday, there were lots of visitors. Many people just sit around behind the infinity pool and admire the lake view in front.

Restrooms are so clean here and you can refill water too! Great place to overlook the lake and take a good break after a tiring bike ride!

This is the place to get on the bikeway. There is nothing here other than cafe and restrooms as it's an admin building. The design us low level in keeping with the special nature of the lake...why can't this apply to other buildings in the area that now blight the skyline or does money talk! Quite nice area by the cafe.

This is a building with modern architecture, beautiful, suitable for taking pictures There are many corners to take pictures. Walking up to see the view at the roof there is more beautiful landscape for taking more pictures. The bicycle rental shop will suggest cycling directions here.

The building is amazing with a nice coffee terrace overlooking the lake. What is really worth the visit is the very nice trail back to Shiashe. This is around 3,4 kms (40 to 50mns if you take your time to take photos). You have to be aware that this is mainly a biking trail and a few people seem to be biking for the 1st time of their life !!

I was cycling by Xiangshan Visitor Center when I got mesmerized by the interesting architecture, I parked my rented bicycle aside and went in to take a closer look.

There was a free exhibition about the local flora and fauna and the life of the aboriginal. Pretty interesting.

Then I stopped by the cafe for a quick cup of tea and a slice of cheese cake. While the refreshments were nothing to write about, the building itself is amazing with interesting form and a lot of mountain breeze flowing through its huge comfortable space.

It was a very comfortable quick stop.

Xiangshan Visitor Center is a place that offers you the serenity of Sun Moon Lake and the space away from the busy tourist spots. The Center comprised of concrete, water and grass. The 2 curved concrete structures do not destroy the harmony with Nature. A pool of water like an infinity pool gives you an illusion of connecting to the Lake. The rooftop of greenery is an elevated lookout for a view of the Lake. It is effortless to get to the Center with just a bus ride. It is peaceful and quiet now but not until busloads of tourists pour in.
