It's an industrial city and maybe it is a little bit messy this city is pretty calm, nothing too special about it, no touristic attractions, no scenery, no activities, the night market is okay, this city is known for their beef noodles or ¨Niu rou mian¨, anywhere you go in Taiwan they will tell you the best beef noodle soup is from here. It is a great place to live if you are looking for something inexpensive and close enough to Taipei. food is cheaper than in most cities around Taiwan. I like Zhongli, it's a calm place where I don't spend a lot of money :), I live comfortably. It gets colder than many other cities, and I love that. Not a pretentious lifestyle at all.

Zhongli, Taoyuan39 contributions7 helpful votes
Zhongli isn't necessarily a tourist destination given the proximity of Taipei, mountains and the ocean - but it does offer much of interest to people passing through for other reasons. It hosts two great night markets, a number of friendly bars including a handful that cater to expats, some good brew pubs, many restaurants (of course! This is Taiwan), and lengthy walking paths that skirt rivers that run through Zhongli. If you find yourself in Zhongli for a few days, you can fill those days with great food and drink, shopping and leisurely strolls.

Zhongli, Taoyuan21 contributions3 helpful votes
Zhongli is a district in Taoyuan. Alternative spellings include Chungli and Jungli. There are several local friendly pubs, many restaurants, a large night market, parks and riverside trails. Coffee culture is also in full swing here with quaint cafes in out of the way spots.

7 years ago I visited this city. This month I decided to head back for a visit. Not much has changed since I was there last. The train station and bus station are still well used. You can pretty much take a bus or train to any part of Taiwan from here. The night market still thrives and is one of the best in the business. The HSR is also well used and is now better connected to the city via the Taoyuan MRT which currently stops at Huanbei station. In the future it will be extended all the way to the train station. There's still not much to do in Zhongli, but it is the hub and gateway to the surrounding areas like Daxi, Dayuan, Guanyin, Longtan, etc. There are plenty of attractions in these areas. The one thing that I've noticed is there is a lot more people around the city, especially on weekends. It's also not far from Taoyuan International Airport TPE.

Its a historical, military, political importance city with a large population, but with next to no special feature! some temples, but temples in Chungli are not too old and nothing special! it has a night market going for a few decades, but its not selling anything too special. The city doesn't have any special food or special produce(of course the city has café and restaurants but the food are nothing too special ,basically you can find it all over Taiwan) No special scenery or scenic spot or tourist attraction either. Its just a city with large population but nothing special.
