Unexpected stop along the way to Kilkenny from Dublin. Some of the most picturesque scenery I have seen ever. The lake at the end of the short walk was truly breathtaking. The ancient monuments are well preserved. A lovely stop.

Last week shortly after my arrival in Glendalough, in the Wicklow National Park, I headed over to St. Kevin's Monastery ruins. The crowds & buses were slightly overwhelming, so I returned later (past 6PM). Even though there were still quite a few visitors, I headed...More

Not so big like we expected. You need at least 20 minutes. Too overcrowded, need to wait for photo without other tourist on it. But good to see it if you are near this place

Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed ourselves during our visit to Glendalough. We especially enjoyed visiting the upper lake...the scenery is fantastic. What's odd is that they charge to park at the car park at the upper lake, but not at the visitor's center near...More

Glendalough is amazing area and the monastic settlement shows how people used to live (and die...) in ancient times. The attached cemetary have interesting tombstones, some with details on the ones buried.

It was our 2nd stop after arriving in Ireland. It's in the mountains so be prepared for occasional rain showers. Reading the tombstones was interesting.

It makes you feel quite peaceful walking around the place. Try to walk to the Upper Lake too. It's a nice stroll, and the perfect place for a picnic.

The ruins are a short walk from the visitor center and there are guided tours but we chose to self explore. You can spend hours wondering the ruins and attempting to read the headstones. Saint Kevin gave up his lifestyle to follow his religious beliefs...More
