Nice place to learn more about Amethyst. The only thing to take note is, don't wear anything you are not prepared to get dirty or dusty. And when you mine, you have to squat and "dig holes" for ... 30 mins? wear something dirty and comfy.

So we were the first miners of the day. They take you through the history of the mine. Our guide Jouni Kurtti was the best. He was so informative and took us to spots that he knew where we wood find some. We found so many. The hike up can be challenging but the views are amazing. The price is so... More

We were the first customers of the day because it was raining heavily. The guide was very good and friendly and we had a great time with her. The digging in the mine was very fun, too. We found beautiful amethyst and other beautiful minerals. We got about 20 min to dig and got to keep one of the minerals... More

We visited here had the talk and warm juice and then we got time to dig for an amethyst in an area which clearly has rubble dumped for tourists to rummage through to find little stones to keep. Made an interesting afternoon! Which we really enjoyed.

Probably the only amathyst mine you can visit. The amathyst bubbles have collapsed through pressure in the earths crust. The amathyst is found in layers just on the outside of the hill. The exploration of the mine is not very intensive, no explosives are used, just digging by hand. Ask your guide to show you the wall of amathyst where... More

We paid around 100 euro for 2 adults, our 2.5 year old got in for free. There is not even a bench at the pick up point, and it gets worse. No toilets on site at all!!! We were told to take our 2.5 year old doughter around the corner, in the middle of a snow storm... After a short... More

Right amount of education, snow mobile travel and treasure hunting especially for families with smaller children. Offers also excellent view to Luosto and Pyhätunturi when weather is clear.

This is the main thing to see in Luosto. You can also get food there which is useful and the soup was excellent. You can use a small pick and hunt for amethysts in a covered area and many people found quite reasonable ones. You get there from the hotels via a monster snowmobile attached to a caravan arrangement and... More

Didn't plan it before, but decided to do it after a recommendation. We were happy we did it, more than expectation. Paid EUR 59 per person, at the amethyst shop in Luosto center in front of the big hotel LuostoTunturi. We got on a Pendolino, like a snow truck, to go the the mine. After good explanation about the stone... More
