We are a local family, providing environmental and sustainable whale watching in Mirissa, Sri Lanka since 2008. We are very keen on protecting the whales and also have been doing research about them for many years now. We are very proud that we are recommended in the new Sri Lankan lonely planet and by so many users of tripadvisor. For bookings please send us an email (anytime), give us a call (between 2 pm and 8 pm) or visit our office in Mirissa Harbour (2 pm to 6 pm). Our price is 6000 LKR for adults and 3000 LKR for kids. Small kids (< 6 years) are free of charge. A refund of 50% is given if we do not see any whales on the day of your trip. Please help to protect the whales!

Raja and the whales cost a bit more than other operators but they are worth it for a few reasons. Most importantly they follow and promote the whale watching rules that are designed to minimise impact on whales - eg not chasing the whales, keeping a respectful distance and not blocking their route. Other boats we saw out there do... More

We had a great experience on this trip - we saw around 6 blue whales and a whale shark! We were out for around 5 hours. The guys that work here are really enthusiastic which is contagious. We also went out on a very rough day and a lot of people were sea sick - but they looked after everyone.... More

We had a great day out to see Blue Whales with Raja, we seen a total of 12 Whales on our trip. They are very careful not to disturb or hinder the Whales and give you a brief lecture about Whales on the journey out to see them. We were given breakfast on board too. On the way back I... More

We went on a whale watching tour with Raja on recommendation from TripAdvisor and weren't disappointed. Yes it was the most expensive at 6000 rupees, but totally worth the extra cost. We were collected from our accommodation at 6am and headed to the office. The sea conditions are clearly displayed before you pay, for us it was 2-3m swells rising... More

They aldo provide a pick up and drop off service and sea sickness tablets before you get on the boat (take them!). Breakfast and snacks are provided. A great day out on thr... More

We had a fantastic day watching Bllue Whales with the Raja team. You could tell their passion and experience sets them apart from other companies. They took care of the guests with nice fruit and breakfast meals, as well as education on the whales. They found whales away from other groups and we're respectful of the distance to the whale,... We decided to do our Whale watching with Raja and the Whales based on the good reviews on Trip advisor. It was a very good decision. The trip cost us 5000 rupees each (£30ish), which although more expensive than other companies, was worth every penny. We were collected from our hotel bang on time and taken by yuk yuk to... More

I'm a whale watching guide myself and was very eager to finally have the opportunity to see blue whales. Raja and the whales is a more expensive operator than others in Mirissa but if you care for the wellbeing of these magnificent animals you should choose them. They are extremely professional and go to great lengths to ensure that the... More

Not overly packed like other boats we saw at the ocean. They have a huge heart for animals and nature, great respect for your integrity in this business. Great explanations and services on board. Started with hot drinks with ginger biscuits. We had fruit platters and breakfast but the sea was a lil' rough for me. Please take your sea... More

This trip was amazing, we saw the blue whales close enough to hear the water coming from their blow holes! Such a privilege to see them. Raja & the Whales were so quick and helpful with responding to emails, considerate of the animals, knowledgeable and they really looked after us on the boat with sea sickness tablets, water, food etc...
