More
We are a local family, providing environmental and sustainable whale watching in Mirissa, Sri Lanka since 2008. We are very keen on protecting the whales and also have been doing research about them for many years now. We are very proud that we are recommended in the new Sri Lankan lonely planet and by so many users of tripadvisor. For bookings please send us an email (anytime), give us a call (between 2 pm and 8 pm) or visit our office in Mirissa Harbour (2 pm to 6 pm). Our price is 6000 LKR for adults and 3000 LKR for kids. Small kids (< 6 years) are free of charge. A refund of 50% is given if we do not see any whales on the day of your trip. Please help to protect the whales!

On the day of the trip, I was picked up by tuk tuk from my accommodation at 6AM and taken to the company office where I paid (6500 Rupees per person) and was given a sea sickness tablet (you'll need it!). We left the harbour...More

We did a whale watching trip with this company in Sep 2017. Although not really this specific company's fault, it was a horrendous experience and we wished we had not done it. The sea is so incredibly rough that basically the whole boat spends the...More

The staff are really enthusiastic about whales and very knowledgeable. Sadly no-one could really hear the introductory talk because the ocean and the engine are too noisy. We saw plenty, plenty of whales. Although the blue whale is solitary it seems when they are about...More

Very very nice staff! We had a great time out on the sea and saw a lot of whales. We saw the back and the tails of the whales but nothing more.

We went on one of Raja and the Whales’ trips during our holiday and we definitely didn’t regret it! Unlike other whale watching excursions in the world the ocean off the south of Sri Lanka is very rough. A lot of the people on our...More

We chose Raja and the Whales due to their excellent reputation and Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed! The free tuck-tuck pick up from our guest house at 5.55am went to plan. Sign in was easy. Nice to be given anti-sickness pill before boarding...More

Dear Raja and your team, thank you for perfect day at your boat. The servis was amazing - hot tea or coffee and ginger biscuits as a start, then plate full of delicious fruit, omelete or rice cake and more. We were so lucky and...More

Hi, Maybe see the reviews of February to find out AND ask the contributors if they saw wales in "full" out of the water or just part of their back while cruising in & out of the water.

Apparently it is still a good time to see the whales and possibly dolphins still. Cost is about 6000 Sri Lankan rupees. You can contact Raja himself by email and he responds very quickly! Hope that helps!
