This is a palatial house which housed the prominent industrialists of the bygone era. There are some interesting architecture, stain glass work and old furniture on display. T

it is very interesting visit at what used to be a prosperous economic center, and rich society that did not know to adapt to changing times, worthwhile visiting

walking around this town is memorable. you are taken back to a time when this was clearly a center of great wealth and now is just frozen and in a bit of decay. make the effort to arrange to visit a house or two (sometimes just knocking can do the trick).

Short drive from Karaikudi, this little village has a huge Chettinad mansion and other interesting buildings. It's really quiet and we enjoyed walking around it for an hour or two. There is a Hindu temple with a man-made lake, the main mansion which you can walk around, and lovely bougainvillea flowers to add colour to the dusty streets. A really... More

This place several chettiar mansions. Chettiar families were rich with business acumen and had built great palaces. Unfortunately the famous Raja Muttaiah Chettiar palace was closed. But we saw another mansion with 50 plus rooms, c court Yard, a huge kitchen, and office space. Architecture is great with artistic decoration, wood work, colourful Belgium glass etc. Reminds the rich lifestyle... More

Must see place.. You can travel through history and time.. through the life of Chettinadu.. Through Chettiyar Families... Most of them are vacant.. it will hunt your memories

We drove a long way for about three hours but were told they have stopped allowing visitors inside anymore. So we had to make do with view from the outside.
