Old Village in China? This is it!

For so many times I have tried to find a decent "Old Village" in China. And I found it here in south Anhui. Xidi is a decent old place to see the real old style of a traditional... read more

We set out from Tunxi first to Xidi and then onwards to Hongcun. No information in English at the bus station but just go up to the ticket windows and ask for a ticket to Xidi (18 yuan), it is an hourly service. When you arrive, you'll need to pay a 104 yuan entrance fee. The village itself is very... More

For so many times I have tried to find a decent "Old Village" in China. And I found it here in south Anhui. Xidi is a decent old place to see the real old style of a traditional Chinese life. By the time I traveled there there were not many visitors so it was quite and nice. If one is... More

The village has a rich history and offers beautiful rural surroundings . On the top of the cliff, you can take a look at the scenery of the whole village. Recommended for people loving traditional Chinese villages and history.

One of the most scenic villages in the area (but not as beautiful as for example the more famous Hong village). A very nice place to have a peaceful walk around in.

The village is about 800 years old according to my guide. One family has lived in this village (Hu family) for all those years and its occupants are mostly related. This is a beautiful village to stroll around in. There are not many villages so well preserved so it's worth a visit if visiting Huangshan. Make sure to walk inside... More

These is one of the top three villages, you should consider visiting in the area, being this and Hongcun the more touristic and Pingshan the less but not the less beautiful comparing these 3. The entrance welcomes you with some beautiful river, and flowers landscape. If you can try to plan to go on mid/end of March beginning of April... More

Well preserved heritage site showcasing traditional Chinese culture. Worth spending half a day in Xidi village. Can buy Small Stone sculptures and paintings for memory. All praise to Govt. For preserving such a delicate cultural heritage.

So this village was declared a UNESCO site at same time as Hong village. The area seems bigger with more houses but less exquisite than hong village. However what is not to be missed is the entire area surrounding the village. Just before there is a river, mountain and small bridge which makes a beautiful site. Opposite the village is... More

This ancient village has a lot of history and the architecture is typical for a once large and bustling commercial center. I'd recommend following one of the many tour guides that are sure to be leading groups of both Chinese and English speaking tourists. This place is great for photographers. The city is also home to about 1000 people today,... More
