The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's also a downtown area with shops that were founded over a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza. It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels, world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular with anyone looking for a night out.

Fun food market. I had gone to the fish market prior and really didn’t get on very well with the smell. Lucky here they have a no fish section.

Why only go to the old fish market when you can Double Down and visit the Outer Market too?
The area surrounding the famous Tsukiji Fish Market (no auction anymore, just vendors) is known as the Outer Market.
There are dozens of shops, stalls, food carts and charcoal grills around to keep your interests. The food is amazing and the vibe is fun.
While in the area, be sure to save some room for breakfast, lunch or dinner at Sushi Zanmai.

I had expected to see a bit more, but at the end it turned out OK. When we arrived, they told us that the old market does not exist anymore and that they’d moved into a new building. There are lots of small but very good restaurants that serve top quality sushi & sashimi amongst others, starting with breakfast already. They cut the various fishes right in front of you and prepare everything accordingly

More fish than you ever want to see in one morning. Many were unrecognizable. Crowded, but a not to be missed stop. Bought lots of inexpensive gifts like chopsticks and chopsticks holders.

Jogai refers to the outer market of Tsukiji. The vibe in this casual streetmarket is upbeat, with the narrow alleys filled with visitors enthusiastic to sample morsels of freshly prepared seafood, wagyu, cut fruit, bread and sweets.
We went twice and enjoyed both trips.
Tips: Bring cash. Sample food souvenirs such as soy-seasoned small fish and crispy flavored seaweed. Buy fruits.

Went there first time and my impression was just ok.
Lots of food to choose from but a lil bit pricey and tourist everywhere.
I prefer kuromon market but nowadays also pricey and lots of tourists.
The only outstanding food I tried was the strawberry mochi.

This is such an awesome place that you must see and visit while you’re in Tokyo!
Inner market has moved, but this outer market is just worthy to visit!

Great place to visit. Bustling with tons of people and it's a great place to get some street food and snacks. I would definitely visit again.

I have been to Tokyo quite often but never found the time to visit the famous Tsukiji market. Since I am from Hamburg I am used to the fish market we have here.

This fish market is very different and I regret not visiting before. Even if you don’t like fish you will find some awesome food to try.

I am a big fan of tamagoyaki so that’s the first thing I tried. It was cheap and fresh and soooo good. Afterward had so some fatty tuna which just melted on my tongue same as the grilled wagyu (expensive but worth it) and the custard filled daifuku as a sweet end was a good thing too

Everything is SO fresh, so delicious! Lots of exotic things to try. Crowds are oppressive, but everyone is mostly polite.
