This whole area is like a moonscape on earth. It is something worth a drive through even if you don't stop at all. This is just something you don't see elsewhere.

We stopped and took in the sights of this area for quite some time as it was spectacularly beautiful...as most of the badlands are. The kids played on the formations and had a blast while we strolled through slowly taking in the sights. It is...More

We met a man along I-90 going to Jasper to experience the Solar Eclipse. He was going to by-pass the Badlands. We convinced him to travel through as it is a unique National Park. The rugged and aired landscape is awe inspiring. We traveled from...More

I wavered on our long trip home about whether or not to swing off the interstate to visit this park. I am so glad I did. I initially passed it by, then on second thought, found and exit to make a U-turn and drive through....More

You must get your camera ready to take pictures of this massive wall. The features of all the peaks are breath taking and you just cant understand how all this nature came to fruition. Just enjoy and take it all in.

Wish we had camped here. We drove from Custer State park where we were camping. Having at least 1 full day would have been ideal. I can imagine what sunrise or sunset would look like.

Just before you enter the park, there is a helicopter tour. It made seeing the Bad Lands so much better. Driving the loop after flying over the area is fantastic. The price was as expected and worth every penny.

It’s a huge landscape (I think 26000 acres) of sheer beauty. The mesmerizing hills with layers of colors is superb. We stopped at many places (to take pictures) and just could not get enough of this natural wonder. It was simply jaw dropping awesome !

This view was amazing. I was not prepared for what the badlands had to give. The drive through was something out of a movie. I think it will be enjoyed by many. I for one cannot wait to go back.

a) I would only take a tour if you are really, really short on time or do not want to rent a car. The Badlands are easily seen in 1 day unless you want to do some of the longer hikes. b) We found it very easy to see... More
