This took my breath away on seeing the view from this point. Cameras were taking the shots to show folks back home.

After visiting the Arches we still had some time and so we went visiting the Dead Horse State Park. It is quite a small Park and the main attraction is the overlook on the Dead Horse shape created by the Colorado river.

This is the absolute best view of the landscape anywhere in the parks area of Utah, maybe only second in the Southwest to Grand Canyon. Make stopping at the rim overlook a priority if you are headed to Canyonlands or Arches.

We came for the national parks, ut this state park is right on the route to Island in the Sky at Canyond lands, so don't miss it.

Awesome landscape that came with the tragic tale of dead horses in a time when folks were not so animal friendly I suppose. The rocks were staggeringly beautiful with the river running through the valleys. Truly stunning.

Dead Horse Point offers magnificent views of the surrounding area, but comes with a sad story, many years ago some Cowboys rounded up a herd of Horses, drove them up to this high ground and fenced them In, the remnants of the fence are still...More

The view from Dead Horse point is very interesting but the legend behind it is quite incredible. Dead Horse point is a state park overlooking Canyonlands. It is a good stop after driving from the canyon.

There is really only one major overlook at Dead Horse Point, and it is more than worth the cost to visit. It's surprising how few people make the stop to see the overlook when visiting the Moab area. The colors are especially amazing at sunrise...More
