This is a short dirt road off the Scenic Drive inside Capitol Reef National Park. There are is a popular hiking trail at the end of the road along with a washroom. The drive is not technical and can be done with a regular car in good weather.

The drive is so awesome with cliffs 100 and 200 ft tall above. Didnt need a 4x4 to make it. Pretty good roads when I went. They take pretty good care of the roads.

We decided to take this road since we were in the area. The road is not that bad, but you must drive slowly. There are a lot of amazing rockformations in the area. When you get to the parking lot, their is a foot trail. After seeing some very "washed" out petroglyphs we decided that this was not the kind... More

Be sure to take this side road. When we visited, a storm was threatening, so we didn't get to make the hike. Even so, the scenery and drive was beautiful, especially the narrows. Be sure to look for the Cassidy Arch.

We wanted to get out of the main road a bit and the direction of this one was extremely appealing. And it bearded fruits. It's a short 2km long road, pretty ok but you still need to drive very slow. But the drive next to the big wall is priceless. Give it a try I would say.

This dirt road leaves the Scenic Drive and takes you to the trailhead for, among other hikes, Cassidy Arch. We were able to navigate it fine in a minivan, although I'm sure a 4-wheel drive could handle it better. The road was bumpy but driving along the wash allowed us to see more of the cliffs and also get to... More

Although a 4x4 has better ground clearance for this road any normal car would make is by driving slow and careful. It is about 5 miles to the end where the trail head begins and you can park there and then hike as far as you want.

Watch for rainfall because the water roars through the canyons and you could be in trouble. Also watch for teenagers in RAV toyotas that think that these roads are a personal racetrack. This young folks could easily hit you head on if you are not careful. Vehicle Enforcement should be upgraded on these side roads.

Not a drive for you new Mercedes or RV since it is dirt and rocks. But for a vehicle, like mine with a few dings and scratches a MUST to drive the Grand Wash Road. Driving through the canyon with huge rocks on both side is worth seeing
