This is a highly-usual formation that's perfectly named. it's one of the most memorable parts of the caverns based on name recognition. I was with my 16-year-old, but I guarantee a younger kid would have thought this was one of the highlights--kind of like when...More

We loved the little lions tails. It's part of the self guided tour of the big room. It's well labelled and you cannot miss it.

These two geologic formations are unique in the Cave but I didn't think they were that special. Everywhere you look are odd geologic formations.

There are a lot of nice formations in the cave and this one is no exception. There isn't much to say about it other than it does resemble a lion's tail and worth seeing if you are visiting the Big Room.

The Lion's Tail is a cave formation in the Big Room. There is a sign along the walkway that points out the Lion’s tail. It is beauty.

One of millions of formations in the Carlsbad Caverns Big Room. It's not the best, but is certainly interesting since you're going to pass it anyway. Why this is a separate TA entry from the Big Room is beyond me.

In a place with such variety of cave formations, this is another interesting one. The name is easily recognizable when viewed in the tour. Must have been quite a sight when first identified with a kerosene lantern.

We saw this while wandering around in the Big Room. This is just one of many fantastic rock formations in this room.
