Quite a treat - if you find it.

Before I left, I printed out as much as I could find on directions to the Skidoo hammer mill. We drove up in a jeep and realized not much was marked in the area. There is a... read more

The drive in starts out ok but gets pretty rough and no room for cars passing. The canyon is breath taking! Old artifacts a plenty too, still standing up well! Well worth the trip!

Before I left, I printed out as much as I could find on directions to the Skidoo hammer mill. We drove up in a jeep and realized not much was marked in the area. There is a parking lot first, but it is quite far from the mill and the way is not marked so you could walk miles and... More

If you've done all the touristy things in Death Valley, it'd be fun to take a trip down to Skidoo Ghost town. There's not much left of it but still it's a cool place to visit.

I love the Skidoo ghost town. I love it for the scenery and the alone-ness. I'm always intrigued by the metal netting covering one of the mine pits. Nice to just lumber around and investigate the area.

My husband and I visited Death Valley over the 2011 Thanksgiving weekend. We drove out to see the Skidoo townsite in our 2008 Subaru Forester not realizing that there is nothing there to see except the informational placard. As we sat there eating lunch and contemplating our next move, another Subaru came down the road and we asked them if... More
