Our bus didn't allow us to step outside at Wonder Lake, but I was amazed by how beautiful it was. I wish I could have gotten out to take pictures!

Canoed across the lake from the Park Road to the campground--a bit of a misty day, but saw a majestic caribou lazing in the willows and a bald eagle.

It is absolutely beautiful on a clear day, especially if there is no wind and you can see a reflection on the water. The best views of the lake with the mountain in the background would have to be from the North end of the...More

We took the park shuttle bus out to Wonder Lake and enjoyed the trip and the stop. We had about half an hour there before our bus departed again, and we were able to see the lake and some nearby scenery. The day we were...More

We got a spot in the road lottery to drive to Wonder Lake. The trip was beautiful. We ran into a little snowstorm, the first snow we've seen this year, but it just increased the beauty of the Fall trip. The colors and smells of...More

I stayed here in August/September and was surprised to find a complete campground with bathroom, water and food facilities. The campground faces Denali. The bus arrives close to the campground and you can bring as much gear as you want. And, you can catch the...More

We had really been looking forward to Wonder Lake after seeing so many gorgeous pictures. Unfortunately, Denali was not in full view so we realized we wouldn't get the reflection photograph. However, we didn't realize that the shuttle only stops briefly at the Lake before...More

At this time of year, so biting insects just annoying gnats. You can take a canoe out on the water from Camp Denali. Nice place to bike around too if you are staying locally. And such a fine view of the mountains, great photo op.

This is a good place to get off on the shuttle bus if you want to wander the area, view the lake, and pick wild blueberries this time of year - but it was ho-hum when it came to the beauty and uniqueness of the...More

Hi: I am planning to take a shuttle into the park on 9/11/17 when I am there. I am not sure if I should take it to Eielson Visitor Center or Wonder Lake. Are these 2 stops on the same bus route, so I can stop at both? Or I must choose between the 2 and cannot see both on the same day? Do I need to book these shuttles in advance? Thanks.

There is only one bus route. Wonder Lake is about three miles or so from the literal "end of the road", about 90 miles in.
How in the world do you book a shuttle and campsite? All I keep finding are websites that tell me ABOUT them, but I don't seem to be able to reserve a site or book a shuttle online. Is there a way to do so?

I would call the park. There are campsites at wonder lake that are pretty basic. You go on a school bus. I can't remember how many they run during the day, but more than one as it takes several hours to get to wonder... More
