This is such a great excursion to do, since it gives you the comfort of being in your car (bring water and snacks) but the autonomy of being able to stop, get out, take pictures, walk around. It's a wonderful option for a self guided tour. It is 40 miles. There are bathrooms along the way. It took us about... More

We were the luckiest of travelers. Not only did we have a beautiful day with dramatic views of Denali, but we saw all of the 'big five' wild animals on our ride. Our driver could not believe our luck. We have visited most of the major national parks and a number of the lesser known, and this was a totally... More

My wife and I visited Denali National Park and Preserve during our escorted ‘Natural Wonders of Alaska’ tour with Titan Travel end of May 2016. We were staying at the Grande Denali Lodge Hotel (Mile 238 on the George Parks Highway) for 2 nights on a room only basis and accepted an offer to visit Denali National Park and Preserve (Denali) for the day on an optional... I've already reviewed the guided bus tour, so I won't rehash that. But this is the road that takes your breath away. I am very happy that I was a passenger, because there was no way I'd have been able to drive properly while taking in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.

We went in middle May and the park buses were not running yet. We were allowed to drive in. The road was closed after we'd gone in about half way. It was still snowed over the rest of the way. Denali was clear and we got nice photos of the entire mountain including the summit. We saw moose, caribou, and... More

Simply put, unless you choose a private tour option, take the Park bus - and reserve well in advance to be sure you get a good departure time. The day we were going, a landslide had the road blocked beyond Eielson and for whatever reason, that caused some backups in traffic and full buses. For the trip itself? We rode... More

Your eyes will forever be grateful for the experience, and your heart will love the memories forever. The panoramic vistas are endless, and each blink brings you more beauty than you ever thought possible. In the heart of the winter, we went up to Murie Science and Learning Center and learned a few tidbits, and we were invited to go... More

WE GOT TO DRIVE IT.... A friend won the road lottery, and couldn't use his pass so, I got to drive the road... SCARY on some of the passes, and I give those bus drivers credit for nerves of steel.

You can only drive 15 miles on the Denali Park road. After that taking a shuttle or a bus tour is required for which there are charges. We did see two moose along the road. However, talking to the Park Information Officer I learned that most wildlife starts at MP 36. You can visit the Murie Science Center and Denali... More

We booked our basic shuttle bus to Eielson Visitor's Center early. We got lucky as we ended up with a driver that has been driving for his 12th or 14th year. We saw lots of wildlife along the way: Black wolf, caribous way up on some ice, and about three grizzly bears, one really close to the road. We saw... More
