We were warned by the park ranger that the smell was pretty bad (partly from human sewage) and that it was "pretty low" due to drought. Well, it reeked and was bone dry and had a lot of mosquitoes.

Ecopond hike is a bird watchers paradise. The hike is short and less than one mile. Take insect repellent, especially around sundown. There are many birds here such as reddish egrets, snowy egrets, tricolor herons, little blue herons, and several duck species.
