This was not as busy as the Anhinga trail. It's really breath taking. 8 miles wide the view is breathtaking. It looks like a prairie out west but underneath is the Shark River Slough. It's amazing to look out from the observation platform and think...More

I was hoping to see the swaying grasses in the river, sort of like watching Gentle Ben when I was a kid. But I guess the years of stealing the water and diverting it to Miami and other large cities along with the long drought...More

If you are looking for a good area for sunrise over the dwarf cypress this is the spot. The elevated boardwalk provides excellent views of the habitat. Best views of the sunrise are on the access road.

The name means (place of the grassy waters in Seminole). This short (.2 mile) trail is a boardwalk with observation platform that winds through a hammock. This are areas of higher ground which often have trees, palms and a lot more shade than the surrounding...More

We found this to be the best place to get a sense of the immense "river of grass" that comprises a large portion of the Everglades. While visible along the Tamiami Trail, this stop allows a quiet opportunity to really appreciate the nature of the...More

This walk is on a board walk above the sawgrass and water. The overlook gives you a sense of how big the "River of Grass" is. We were there on a beautiful sunny day.

We drove from the Royal Palm to this site as it was another trail further into the park. It offers a different view of the plant and wildlife of the park than the Anhinga or Gumbo Limbo trails, but if you want to see those...More
