The trail descriptions scared me the night before.. we couldn't get the permit we'd planned so the boucher trail was our alternative. It was everything the trail descriptions warned us about... challenging down climbing in places with a full, start of the trip pack, remote and a challenge when we ended up with a 3" plant spike in a buddies... More

As perviously mentioned, read the NPS trail description before you go, this trail is not easy nor entirely safe and it's isolation makes it a bad place to get stuck with an injury--we never saw a soul for 2 days except at a distance. Get the trail info from the backcountry office and take it to heart -- this is a DIFFICULT trail in two respects -- it is not maintained or well-marked and the decent to the Boucher campsite is STEEP (about 1800 feet in a mile or so), with lots of boulders. We lost the trail a couple of times and ended... More
