Mather Point, accessible only by free park shuttle, is the most scenic spot we visited. Travel early in the day before the shuttle busses get overwhelmed.

Highly recommended for dawn photos if the grand canyon! There is plenty of room for all and great access and guard rails. Even those folks scared of heights can find a comfortable spot to see the canyon! The book store at this location is really top notch!

Perfect place for a sunrise, since we have 2 kids , we preferred to drive and it's 2 mins from the parking lot and it's easy to find in the dark. Come and hour earlier at least as it's gets really crowded

My teenage son, young adult daughter, my husband and I stood in awe with an other 80 people as the sun coloured the Mather Point with its gold paint. Fantastic sight. (PS: Watch out for bees! We saw a girl get stung repeatedly as she set too close to the edge of the cliff. She felt the first sting, but... More

Words cannot express the beauty of this natural phenomenon! For me, it was an emotional experience. I stood in awe of what Mother Nature had created. My advice to all, is that if you can afford it, you MUST visit and experience this personally. I do hope I will get the opportunity to see this marvel one more time!

We loved Mather Point and visited it frequently fir picture ops, education lesson, etc. Easily accessible from visitor center, great spot to learn about the tribes of the Grand Canyon, who Mather was and his contribution to the canyon but best of all to catch the sunrise!

A must do when you come to the canyon. It is a very popular spot and busy when we visited it 3 times over 3 days in the off season. Just enjoy, even if you are surrounded by heaps of people. It is one of those places where you come away with the feeling of how you are just this... More

My husband and I have watched Ken Burn's National Park documentary series a few times. If you haven't seen it, I can't recommend it enough. We were so happy to finally visit a spot named for Stephen Mather, the father of the National Park system. We visited in the off season but there was still no shortage of people. I... More

We walked out to Mather point as I expect most people do and it was awesome, and that's not an exaggeration by any means. I went back a couple of times for dusk and dawn photos too.

This is one of the most popular stops so be ready to have people in your pictures unless you come early!
