Beautiful Drive

Even in our big F-350 Ford we had no problem with the road. Plenty of places to pull over and take fantastic pictures of the river. Speed limits run from 25 to 35.

Give youself time for this route. Can't go fast - turns too tight ans natural beauty to good to miss. Many small water falls. There are places to pull over and enjoy the water or fish.

A lovely drive that after dropping down from the Laurel Falls Parking area that follows the course of Little River form Elkmont to the Wye just outside of Townsend... a couple of nice features along the way include the Sinks and Metcalf Bottoms Picnic area, which is an especially nice gentle prortion of stream which is good for younger kids... This road goes mostly along a beautiful mountain river. The foliage was beautiful in early November. There is a nice hike to Laurel Falls. We did it a few years ago, but not this time. If you are a photographer, you might be disappointed with pictures of the falls because people wade in front of the falls and stand on... More

It is basically a 24 miles scenic drive to Cades Cove from Gatlinburg entrance of the park. It is a winding road and took us approximately an hour to reach Cades Cove with one or two stops. For most part, the road is besides a stream. There are lot of places where one can stop and enjoy the scenery. I... More

Don't be in a hurry. Plenty of places to pull off and look around. Nice to follow the meandering water through the mountains and observe nature.

This is a beautiful drive, with deep woods, hills and trout streams along the entire stretch. There are parking turnouts and hiking trails in various places. The best thing is that if you are driving from Townsend to Clingman's Dome, you can bypass most of Rt 441 near Gatlinburg and avoid the crowds..

The Newfound Gap road and the Little River road are the two main roads that bisect the GSMNP. The Little River Road is the road from Gatlinburg to Cades Cove. It follows the Little River into Cades Cove. It starts at the Sugarland Visitor Center (stop there first- next restroom is far away) and passes by Elkmont Campground, the Tremont... More
