Top of the World.... We have been here twice and it never ceases to take our breath away. The view is just amazing and breathtaking. We took the Andrews Bald trail this year when we came down in November. The view from there is awesome.....More

The Dome Tower is closed but you may still walk around the Dome and the views are stupendous. It can get crowded so go mid week if possible. take a sandwich with you and stay awhile.

Heaven on Earth.. best during Fall.. You can see the the best view of mountains, trees and clouds. Reaching Dome from Gatlinburg is 22 miles / half an hour drive.. the drive is very scenic too.

Slow drive along a slightly winding road with a few overlook stops. With the heavy fog, we arrived to the top where there was plenty of parking. There are restrooms in there parking lot. The 1/2 mile paved walk is a steady climb to the...More

This is a short hike of .5 miles, but steep for the couch chair hikers. Fortunately many places to rest on The way up. The observation tower was closed for renovations, which we saw on a sign before beginning the climb. Our group was very...More

We took the drive to Clingman’s Dome during our stay in the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge area in late October. Though the actual tower was closed for repairs we walked about and had magnificent views of the Great Smokeys. I believe at 6,600 feet the Dome...More

Super special! Lots of people, but it’s big enough that it doesn’t feel crowded. It’s so worth the winding road trip up the mountain! Be prepared for at least a 20 degree drop in temperature from the bottom to the top.

Our family of six look forward to the hike every time we visit the Mountains. Even with a mild hip and foot disability I am able to complete the hike. Just don't forget water.

I came several years ago and again a week ago. We first went on a Saturday and it was extremely crowded. There was a steady stream of cars parked along the road so the roadway was slow. We were fortunate to get a parking place...More

Went here in late in October to see the views. My group and I made the trip up the mountain on a weekday, so it was busy, but not as bad as a weekend would be. It took at least an hour to travel up...More

The tower is closed for renovations until next year sometime. The views are awesome especially in the early morning when the fog (smoke) covers the valley. The fall colors are pretty much done if that’s what you’re looking... More

The road to Clingmans Dome should open by the 1st of April. I would check at the Sugarland Visitor Center to make sure the road and the observation tower at Clingmans Dome are open.
