This is definitely a strenuous hike and not for children. Waterfall at the end is beautiful, but the hike itself is no where near as scenic as Alum Cave, also considered a "strenuous" hike. Ramsey round trip is twice as long as Alum. (Note, most...More

We didn't finish this hike as it started to get dark and we didn't want to be hiking after sunset with 2 small children. If you want to hike here - Get there early, bring water, and wear comfortable shoes. I would not recommend hiking...More

This hike is considered a blue/black. With that being said, just be prepared for the hike. It is a 2,209 ft ascent covering 4 miles. Then the same 2,209 ft descent which actually takes the same amount of time. The trail can take 4&1/2-7 hours...More

Hiked up to Ramsey Cascades with my 10 year old son. Neither of us really prepared for this strenuous hike but took our time and were rewarded in the end. Bring plenty to drink (we wore hydration packs). The trail is very rocky and full...More

This was a fine hike. Not as strenuous as I thought, but then we have hiked Old Rag and Half-dome in the past. My son and I were there and back in 4.5 hours. We brought plenty of water and were the second group on...More

The first 1.5 miles is easy. You follow a 'road' that is wide. The total hike gains about 2200 feet by my GPS. The climb starts almost immediately. After the first 1.5 miles the trail gets narrow and you are hiking up rocks and roots....More

This hike was well worth it! We took our 10, 11, 18 year-olds as well as my 64 year-old mom (who is really healthy). It is listed as strenuous and that is accurate. Know what you are getting into, take plenty of water, some snacks...More

This is one of those hikes in the SMNP which can be easily overlooked because you have to leave the Smokies, drive through Gatlinburg, take 321 East, and then come back into the Smokies via Greenbriar Rd. i.e. you will not stumble onto this trail...More

My husband and I chose this as our waterfall hike in the Smokies and it didn't disappoint! It is a more difficult trail, but only about the last mile or so where you need to climb over some rocks and the terrain is a little...More

Love love love this hike!!! It says 4.5 miles to get there but it is definitely closer to 6 miles according the Apple Watch. This hike is definitely not for the weak LOL. We lounged around for the day after. But the views are beyond...More

All trails are rated intermediate to difficult. We always bring a backpack full of snacks and water along with some basic medical supplies. You just have to watch your footing and be careful!
