This is the trailhead to the McKittrick Canyon, Pratt Cabin and Grotto. Not sure when it's staffed with NPS personnel, but there's a brief movie on Mr. Pratt and the canyon region. There are bathrooms and brochures for guests. There's a brief (.9 mile) trail...More

The center is a few miles from the highway and allows a little introduction to the canyon and trails leading out. Has bathrooms and water. The video is a good one.

Very small, but lots of information for adults. Children would probably be bored because of all the written information.

The visitor center was unstaffed, but we really enjoyed the video that is available on demand. The gentleman who donated land for this park is featured and interviewed in the video, and it was enjoyable to hear his enthusiasm for the park. We chose the...More

I enjoyed my trip to the McKittrick Canyon. The visitor center could benefit from having personnel there at least part time but overall I cant complain as the facility was clean and everything was in working order. The canyon itself was well worth the trip.

I went with several international students on this hike, was not too steep, took several pictures, cabins in the mountains. rivers flowing, butterflys following us around, a lot of pretty folage. seemed a long hike @ 2.3 miles up but was not hard at all.

There isn't much to this teeny tiny visitor's center at McKittrick Canyon. I think a previous reviewer who mentions animal exhibits mixed this visitor center up with the bigger visitor's center south of here. The McKittrick Canyon center has restrooms with running water, and a...More

Took a nice 5 mile round trip hike up the McKittrick Canyon to visit the Pratt cabin built in the 1930's out of local material with an unusual stone roof. Did not go all the way up to the Grotto but sure it is nice...More
