This is a must see. The center supports local artists, so you get something unique to the area that most other shops on the island doesn't carry. I always find something special there. Plus you are supporting the park, in these times it is important since Republican politicians are trying to do away with the National Park system.

My wife and I have visited the Volcano Art Center several times during visits to Kiluaua Volcano. It's housed in a rustic house just inside the park boundaries and near the Volcano House. Though it looks small on the outside, it houses several rooms of artistic items, including jewelry, ceramics, glass, koa wood objects and, of course, lots of art... More

Very nice collection of native art. From the colors and topics we can catch a glimpse into the traditional Hawaii.

I was surprised to find a large variety of artwork, most or all from local artists, at the National Park just opposite of Volcano House. Paintings, photography, glassworks, woodworks, pottery, they have a wide range of unique works in a historic building.

We were impressed with the quality of the art works available. We purchased a glass piece and found we struggled to decide between artists. This is a great place to stop in during the rain and the people at the center are very knowledgeable.
