This is a fantastic location to visit if you want to experience volcanism. You can stay at the park if you like or spend a day and drive to the volcano. There is active lava flows that can be viewed if you are willing to drive and walk for a few miles. Start early and bring snacks and water for... More

Breathtaking and awe inspiring to see lava bubble and flow! So cool to walk thru the lava tube and see the steam come up from the ground as well!

We love(d) the Volcano National Park. We went on a guided tour earlier in the week to see the summit--- that was a fun experience. We got to see quite a bit with the guide, --- black sand beaches, dancing lava during the day and night at the summit, the steam vents, walked through one of the lava tubes, etc.... More

This is part of the park, and is impressive especially if you have never seen steam vents before. The air coming out of them is quite hot almost like being in a Sauna. Was fun to see but not the most exciting thing in the park. The beauty of the park far exceeds these vents.

Not really sure what is going on here but most of the reviews and pictures are from Volcano national park, on the other side of the island.

We stopped here and exited our tour bus to walk a short distance to enjoy the steam coming from below. The railings kept the safety in place, and the steam fogged up our glasses. Fun stop!

It's really neat seeing and feeling all of that steam venting from the Earth! It's hard to believe your standing on top of a active volcano!

We stopped at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and we were greeted with a beautiful view of lava flow in the caldera of the volcano. We were there just at sunset, which provided a fantastic view of the lava. Highly recommend!

This is a nice hike but it is hard to see the lava ocean entry from this side. Better to go to Kalapana side....closer to the action.

I had been to this park years ago on a sunny day so I know how gorgeous it is. Unfortunatly the volcano gods weren't helpful so when my family visited there was dense fog. (thank goodness for internet images which we looked at when we returned home so Kids could truly see the beauty) Despite the weather the guides were... More
