We are from LA. We have plenty of beaches. The Olympic National Park is something else entirely: Forest cliffs, ruggedness, wind torn waves, little rock islands dotting the coast, heaps of foot deep kelp, entire trees washed up on the beach. This has been my...More

This is 9 miles round trip triangle. Two ways to get to the beach by trail which is mostly boardwalk and steps 3 miles each way and then you can walk 3 miles down the beach if you like to connect the hikes and make...More

This was a very good hike ...the title is just expressing the sights of the day. We caught a great weather day, a cool morning warming up into the 70s by mid-afternoon. Perfect. We hiked out to Cape Alava and, once out on the beach...More

Great hike, well maintained trails in great condition except the way back from Sand point, lots of broken boards on the boardwalk, but that didn't take away any. 3 miles out on the Avalanche trail in the woods, then 3 miles on the beach, check...More

This is a very easy hike and well worth it. It is fun to divide the loop into a three day trek with short 3 mile hikes each day. Start at the trail head and head to Cape Alava for the first night. Then for...More

This is one of our favorite hikes to the ocean. There are two trails to the ocean, the one that goes to the right has a lot more board walk. We usually go in the off season or during the week days.

This is a beautiful walk from the ranger station out to the ocean and back, 3 miles each way. You can make the hike/walk 9 miles by going out towards Cape Alava, then 3 miles on the beach and loop back via Sand Point. It...More

Did the loop. Did the first third of the loop. Did the second part along the beach. The trail back to the Ranger Station is not as clearly marked as we hoped - we lost a friend there for a bit, but overall, this is...More
