The time of year you go on this road will greatly determine the quality of the road. The later in the year, the more rutted and worn it gets. You should have no real problem with any rental car you have, unless it's a very...More

This narrow dirt road is an amazing scenic drive to the summit. It is narrow and steep with no guardrails and drop offs, and going slow is a requirement, but is worth every minute. You get a chance to see so much more than on...More

9 miles of unforgettable dirt road climbing to 12,000 feet. The views are spectacular. This one way road is steep and without guard rails. If you have a fear of heights or driving this terrain you may want to think twice before heading out. There...More

This is definitely the slow road to the "top" of Rocky Mountain National Park, but it is worth it. Don't let the gravel road scare you - just take things slow and enjoy the changing scenery as you switch back & forth up the mountain....More

Although we were initially a bit leery of this drive because it's a dirt road, it wasn't a problem. The road is well maintained and very driveable, although it does have a speed limit of 15 mph. But the views are amazing and the Alpine...More

This trail made it the park visit an awesome experience! The views were break-taking, esp in the morning! Seeing the park from a different view of the main road was amazing. We drove this trail twice in our convertible Mustang, so it is packed enough...More

I think it opens in June but that depends on the weather. The National Park Service has a website that should let you know if it's open as you get closer to the date. Have fun when you go!!
