Our time in the park was sadly short and we chose this one trail to spend a bit of time on the ground in the park. This is a pleasant and relatively flat hike. There were few hikers on the late September day we visited....More

After hiking to Emerald Lake and The Loch, we wanted a change of scenery. This was it. The trail winds through several types of forest and offers nice views of the meadows and peaks. The trail is mostly soft and not rocky - good for...More

If you are a birder and are looking for sapsuckers and possible crossbills, this is a good trail to walk. We have never been disappointed!

This is a "road less traveled" experience. There is a parking area with a trail leading into ponderosa-studded parkland that in August sports a variety of wildflowers and birds such as Green-tailed Towhees, White-crowned Sparrows and Dark-eyed Juncos. There are short trails into elk pen...More
