The Cactus Forest Drive is only 8 miles but it contains numerous hiking trails as well as places you can pull over for views. The flora and cacti are beautiful. We took over 1 1/2 hours to complete the drive but the time passed so fast. This is one place that should not be missed.

As we approached Saguaro National Park, we saw open fields of tall cactus plants. I felt as if I was drawn back in time into a cowboy movie. It was quiet & scenic. The Park Rangers at the Visitor were helpful & informative. Note: The gift shop was nice, however there were only a few snacks. Bring your own food.... More

Great views of this special cactus. So glad we have preserved this for future generations. Relaxing and scenic. Great way to spend a couple of hours. Amazing to appreciate the age of these cactus.

Arizona is, if nothing else, a very picturesque place, and Saguaros help a lot, and the parks are spectacular. I get out into the backcountry a considerable amount, and I get to see things most never will, but...even with almost zero actual work, modern people can drive this here drive, and it's beautiful.

This one-way, paved loop drive tops my list of favorite places to take our visitors from outside this area for an introduction to the desert around Tucson. The 8-mile loop features saguaros galore; myriad other cacti; mountain vistas; trail heads with parking spaces; and pullouts to look at views and to read information boards. There is even a really easy,... More

We got to the park at about 4 in the afternoon. The rangers were helpful and advised of some walks we would be able to complete before sunset. However we ended up spending all of our time on the scenic loop drive instead. The saguaros are beautiful and mesmerising. Plenty of stops along the way to pull over for photos,... More

There are 2 parts to Saguaro NP - east and west, and they are about 40 miles apart. The east (Cactus Forest Drive) is by far the better of the two. The scenery is incredible, especially early or late in the day. Unfortunately, they close the park at sunset, and the gate is locked, so if you want to stay... More

Caught the auto loop drive 1.5 hrs before sunset - amazing sites of the cactus and skies, red/pink against the mountains. Javelina rocks best place to take pics. Be sure you know rules before going - had to cancel our hike because we took dog. Website says dogs welcome, but keep reading. Could not take the 2 mile hike we... More

Not only was this just an awesome loop but we did it on road bikes! This was a bucket list experience and it lived up to everything we had wanted. We actual rode here on the bikes from the Omni so it was a 67 mile ride. Able to take local trails to get here. Once you pass the entrance... More

Such a different experience to do via bike. The trail is a short 8 mile loop. You can rent a bike from Broadway Bikes. The loop is fun w up and down hills. Everywhere you look there is an amazing view. Everything from mountain peaks to Saguaros, with each one having its own personality. Match this with the colors in... More
