Lead guide Lester led a brilliant and magnificently competent, safe adventure for our BSA Scouts Troops (both boys and girls troops combined) into the wet (i.e., muddy) Glade Cave (vic. west ridge of the Shenandoah), keenly incorporating valued (scouter) lessons of leadership, land navigation (underground), and natural resource stewardship/conservation, respect, and responsibility into the adventure. Superb job!

Lester took my family caving and it was Amazing! Our skill levels and temperaments varied greatly. Lester was very patient with all of us and created ways to engage everyone in the caving experience in meaningful ways. My 6 yr old son freaked out a bit and lester was very patient with him. My 9 yr old daughter was a bit excited and hyper and he was patient with her as well. I hope to get back to caving with Lester in the future and taking on some more challenging caves.

Lester was very informative, knew what he was doing and we had a good adventure. He gave e me tips for climbing, taught me some cool useful knots, and I had a lot of fun climbing, I think the rappelling was the part ill take away the most, that was new. I had a really good experience climbing with him and I would do it again if im in the area.

I took a compass navigation class with WGA, it was great! Excellent “classroom” discussion of basics w/ a practical application of lessons learned afterwards.

I now not only know my compass better but how to read topi maps more accurately as well…with a dash of survival practices thrown in!

My 10 year old wanted to learn about caving, and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction. Lester immediately adapted to our high-gusto, low-experience family with lots of practical learning and chances for my beginner to try scouting and leading. He is a former teacher, and it shows. Our trip with Wild Guyde was of extremely high value and I've already recommended Lester to friends who want to safely up their outdoor game.

So thrilled that your son wanted the WILD cave experience instead of the SHOW cave tour. We have more caves to visit, so come back as soon as you are ready.

Just what I'd hoped. I enjoy hiking, but had no idea how to read a topographical map or a compass. Lester taught us the basics, then sent us out to practice what we'd learned. As a group, we navigated our way through the woods to a designated location where a surprise awaited us. This outing was so much fun!

Learning these basic campcraft and survival skills gives us fun things to do with our kids and grandchildren, but it also builds personal confidence about the back-country instead of intimidation. And when there is also CHOCOLATE waiting, well, what more can we say?!

Lester is great with Scouts! We have used him a couple of other times in the past with great success. This time we contracted with him to help Scouts earn the Climbing Merit Badge. Everyone had a fun time, stayed safe, and exceeded their comfort zone to enjoy the experience.
I always enjoy working with Lester as a Scouter because his focus is where it should be in our program, on the youth. He interacts well with them, keeps them informed, and challenges them all while helping them learn a new skill.
WildGuyde has become my goto for caving and climbing. I know he offers many other opportunities so check them out to support your Scouting program.

And I am grateful for scouting leaders who give time and energy to BSA. Working together over several seasons as we have also allows me to see your scouts grow and develop. Thanks for the partnership!

Great experience caving on a farm near the Shenandoahs. Adam was very well-presented, and did a great job of making sure everyone was equipped, prepared, and understood what to do at each step. Our group of 12 (3 adults and 9 boys as young as 10 yrs of age) made it through a two hour caving trip with no falls or injuries, and having had a great time. Highly recommended!

Adam is also a Young Life leader, so he is used to working with junior high kids (and rowdy adults). Glad he gave you all a super day!
