Beautiful Visiting Center in Shenandoah Park

Great place to stop and take in the history of the park and how it all began. There is a beautiful museum displaying how it got started, and a gift shop.

If you begin your trip at the beginning of the Skyline Drive in Front Royal, Va, then this is a good place to start. There is a small exhibit, and gift shop. Speak to the rangers and they will steer you in the right direction.

This is a Nice place to stretch your legs. Very crowded area. Be careful and watch for children running around. They are a few sovereigns available.

Very few Ranger classes/seminars on the map, maybe due to being so late in the year. Facility does have some interesting films about the park. Nice selection of souveniers here. Rather small visitors center though.

This is a smaller than average visitor center. Surprising given the fact that it is located at the North entrace to the park. The Big Meadows visitor center has much larger facilities interms of interpretation etc that I think would have been better placed as people begin their journey through the park. Also when I was there the rest room... More

Stopped in for clean restrooms, drive tidbits, and a fantastic view on a windy morning. The place was informative and got my Shenandoah NP stamp.

A nice little place to learn a bit about the park and take a break from hiking or driving. There is a small gift shop with Park items like tee shirts and patches and you can get your NP passport stamped too.

Don't miss Visitor Center's when traveling through National Parks. This one, like others, is filled with helpful maps, rangers, information, souvenirs and displays. They had on display a room full of National Park quilts. A larger quilt with all the National Parks on it was at the Byrd Visitor Center.

We loved the beautiful displays of the area and of how the Skyline Dr was built. The three movies (playing at this time) were worth watching and contained much history.

Outside the visitor center is a huge open area. It's there that Roosevelt dedicated Shenandoah. We went to the visitor to ask about hikes and grab the kids junior ranger books. The rangers were really helpful. additionally, we also saw a movie about the parks origins discussing Stephen Mather's role. Definitely worth a stop.
