Observation point is amazing with sweeping views of Zion Canyon. However, the hike is uber-strenuous and took me 1 hour 46 minutes and I was trekking at a fast pace. I easily consumed almost 3 liters of water on the climb. I began my hike...More

This was a grueling trail. I know people say it's easier than Angel's Landing (on account of the lack of chains, this is true, and I'll admit to chilling at the base of the chains while my brother and boyfriend attempted that summit) but the...More

We hiked to the top of observation point with our three children (ages 8, 12, 13). It was strenuous, but definitely worth the work. Our youngest called it "the worst hike ever" on the way up, but cheered and encouraged everyone she passed going down....More

This was a heck of a climb through some switch backs in 100 degree heat. When you get close to the top it feel like it will never end. The last part opens up to a 360 degree view of Zion valley. This point is...More

I don't think we knew what we were getting ourselves into when this hike began, but the 4 miles up are not easy... There will be switchbacks, watch your footing because it can get slippery, steep portions, and it'll challenge your soul. You'll wonder whether...More

It's worth the hike. Bring plenty of water and energy bars. Easier to start from the top by zion ponderosa. If you have the stamina and don't mind strenuous hikes with drop offs you can take the hike from the floor of the canyon.

The first part of the climb was very nice, especially if you start out early. There's a beautiful canyon on the way, and then it gets hot and long, and when you get to the top, four hours later, you want something really spectacular. But...More

The hike is accessed from the Weeping Rock trailhead and the shuttle drops you right at the start. 4 miles out and 4 back. I did the trail in the afternoon. Apart from the canyon section it is pretty much full sun all the way...More

Can you give me more detail about "the back way" to hike Observation Point? Where exactly did you start? Is your way as scenic as the regular route? Is it basically the same route except that you started a little farther along? THANKS

I might be slightly wrong about beaver and cedar, now that I look at the map, but from Twin Knolls there are a lot of signs.
