If you are looking for a relaxed weekend by the seaside, but do not want to face the huge crowd of Digha, the most visited seaside location of west bengal, Shankarpur is just the place to be at. You could spend hours at the concrete beach of Shankarpur, looking at the waves. The place is between the two most famous... More

Its under construction & dirty. Not suitable for elderly. The beach is not kept neatly & we couldnt find place to enjoy the sea view as seating arrangement is improper.

It was a vlean and pristine beach then. Catering to the fishing fleet. We stayed at the Benfish guesthouse. Great views from the beach specially the numerous red crabs shuffling along. The smell for the fish rotting in the sand wasn't too nice though.

This was a long and empty beach. There was a lot of fishing boats and ice making factories. We had rented a small Maximo car from Digha to visit there. I hope you will like this if you are a beach lover.

Beautiful beach can be reach from Mandermani or Digha by taxi or local Motor Rickshaw from Ramnagar, very clam and quite far from crowed, very small waver of sea and cool wind blowing gives a soothing relaxation at morning session, very limited snack stall can be seen here, but the best is the Red Crabs on the beach which looks beach red... Visiting Shankarpur since 80's. But when Mandermani was taking it's first shape in 2004 I used to stay 'Kinara' Guest House of Benfish at Shankarpur on every second week. But I did not find any difference from that time and when I visited Shankarpur recently. Up to end of first decade of 2000 there was a Life Buoy of Kolkata... More

Shankarpur Beach almost 15 km away from Digha is another beautiful beach of the Bay of Bengal. The beach is not very wide and is little bit stony. One must take care of himself or herself while bathing here. The beach is indeed very peaceful and less crowded. There are few options of staying there. You will never be disheartened.
