A nice place to learn about Taiwan history

If you are visiting Jiufeng old street then this is not far away stop. The place has poor signage, so its rather confusing for first timer. Its open and free museum except certain attractions. Lots of stairs and walking. You need to walk almost to the end before you can see the main attractions, the 2000 kilo gold brick. Other... More

On a warmer sunnier day maybe it would be ok. It's not the easiest to get to you need to take the MRT then a bus. There are a few houses to visit and a few museums. You have to pay more to go in one if the mines. The views aren't the best as there are lots of ugly... More

My local Taiwanese friend heard from someone to take me there and neither of us knew what to expect but overall it was a good experience. Admission is free but if you want to see the exhibits then it's 80NT. Has a lot of history about the Japanese mining also many Japanese tourist. It was pretty big and there's lots... More

If its a windy day, be prepared for it to be cold. The area can be exposed in some places. I found the war history very interesting but the actual gold museum side of things I didn't find that interesting. I can imagine on a nice day weather wise its probably a pleasant place to visit and wander. The day... More

This area was great to explore with it's mix of industrial history and Japanese colonial buildings. The ability to touch and hold the world's largest ingot of solid gold was a nice novelty, especially with the digital readout of it's worth increasing while we were there. The nature and conditions faced here were tough and harsh, especially during WW2 when... More

Visited on a rainy day. Our driver dropped us nearer to the museum as it was a weekday on top of the hill but it was still a distance to trek. It's probably good to trek on a sunny day. Upon reaching the museum we were told the lift was not working, my mum's legs were weak but the only... More

It is not just a museum to learn about how they process the gold miner mined, but there are other attractions inside which you can learn about the living conditions of miners and supervisors,

Jiufeng Gold Mine Museum I recommend that you pay a visit to the museum if you are in Jiu Feng. This place thrived when gold were discovered. In a gold rush, people came to this area to look for fortune and soon township sprung up and prospered. When the gold mine exhausted, the town waned into a sleepy village until... More
