We stopped in because we had some time to fill on the last day of our trip and we thoroughly enjoyed the panning for gold, the history, the caretakers and the animals at the facility. We ended up wishing that we had stopped here first...More

We learned how to pan for gold and enjoyed the other attractions such as the gold panning displays. There we also some baby ducks there to look at! The host is very knowledgeable and friendly. A great place to stop on the Seward highway.

Panning for gold and looking at old tools of the trade was a good time. I think children and teens would enjoy the panning for gold. The turkeys and the chickens were cute too! Good history about mining around the Turnagin Arm.

We visited this site with another couple. I highly recommend you stop by. The gentleman was very informative and gave great facts about the local area and bay. We were shout how to pan for gold and shown baby ducks, chickens, & turkeys!

We bought a $20 bucket of dirt and got to learn the art of panning for gold, you can't beat that. Plus we showed up at close on accident and they stayed open just to help us pan.

A great adventure for adults and kids. The guide was an expert, very knowledgeable. All 3 grandkids fund some real gold in their panning experience. It was a lot of fun!!

For the $1 entry fee, you can't beat the half hour guided tour of the original settlers cabin and his workshop. The gift shop is quaint and well priced. Definitely take the time to do a bit of gold panning. It's fun and very informative....More

A great way to learn about gold, how panning is done. Arlene is a great host, teacher, and interesting too. Six of us enjoyed our visit.
