This historic beach was the primary point of landing on June 6, 1944, for the entry of American forces into World War II and saw some of the most intense fighting in the entire war.

Arrived before 9am and was one of 6 people at the memorial and sculptural at the beach. Taking in the scenery and imagining the contrast to it on D-Day.

This beach is HUGE and would probably been a famous beach for other reasons if the allied had chosen to land anywhere else.

It's hard to equate such a beautiful beach and incredible sculptures with the horrors that happened here on the D'Day landings. Well worth a visit to see where those brave men fought and to learn more about D'Day.

to understand what happened there and the logistics involved is beyond words, you have to be there to explain what your mind sees

A very touching place to experience a piece of World War II history. Could be very upsetting for those who have relatives who served in France.

Very interesting to see the beach much as it was before the Germans fortified it in preparation for the Allied invasion, with people out having fun in the sun. All tour guides aren't the same, and ours was excellent, pointing out the things you don't...More

We came by Omaha beach during a day tour, but then came back the next day at 6:30 AM, the time D day landings began on June 6. It was an amazing and humbling experience. The beach was completely deserted, which allowed us to better...More

If possible, have a tour guide take you through this area to see old German bunkers, the beaches, and review the history with you. Hearing the story retold and standing in these historic places was an amazing experience. I know the history but felt like...More

Very. It is an incredible history lesson that will inspire your child to continue to seek information about our glorious country. Walking in the bunkers and on the bombing fields, seeing the cliffs our guy's scaled and the... More
How many other similar sites can you access nearby and would you need a whole day for say 3-4 sites? We plan to come by car from Caen. Do you need tickets for these sites? Could you give me details about opening times & costs. We plan to be in Caen between 27 & 29 May. Can we do a tour on our own?

Simply stated, you can reach the Normandy Beaches via car in about 2-3 hours from Paris; not sure about Caen. Plan about 2-3 days in the area. Hopefully, your time of travel will not be filled with tourists so you can... More
