A short boat trip and Turtle Island provides interaction with turtles, snakes, birds and plenty of opportunities to get the camera clicking for a very modest entrance price.

I really wish we had read the reviews first. We came hear as a suggestion from our driver. Lost in translation I thought we would be snorkelling with turtles in the wild. FAR FROM IT. It's an island with caged animals that look miserable. If...More

Low light was see a tiny monkey chained up in an equally tiny cage. Picture a cage the size of 3-4 shoe boxes stacked on top of each other with a terrified monkey in it in the middle of an area with dozens of tourists...More

Everything is set up so you go through each animal quite speedily. Animals include more than just turtles: owls, monkeys, snakes and bats. Souvenirs are over-priced here though.

This place is horrible. The way they treat the animals is completely disgraceful. The baby turtles are left in there’s tiled bathtubs and picked up every two seconds by a different tourist or a guide who just throws them back in. The larger turtles are...More

Yes, it's been reported many times. Unfortunately, disgusted western tourists are such a small percentage of visitors... So many other tourists flock there that it keeps the place going.

You'll need to pay before you leave the mainland - for the boat trip and entry - then there's a minimum compulsory donation when you get there. It could cost as much as $100/person - the more people in the boat, the cheaper... More
