Nelson's dockyard has a different feel from you step through the gates. It's rich in old English history, great for photos, dining, or the casual hang out. It is a custom for my family to visit Nelson's Dockyard for site seeing. It's worth a visit.

We were in Antigua during the yacht race week and visited the English Harbour late afternoon when the racers were getting back, whch added to the interest. We'd already been to Shirley Heights and the ticket is combined with the English Harbour so dropped in on our way back to our hotel. We were shown round by a young guy... More

Great place to visit with many craft and Artisan shops as well as bounteous amounts of history. Stroll around, have lunch at The Admiral's Inn and savour the only working Georgian dockyard on the planet. SuzieV

If your from the Americas then this will be interesting as most of your cousins stem from British blood. This shows how the British started to colonise the world and it reminded me a little of films like pivates of the carribean. It's still a working dock after 300 years but well worth a look round and such a pretty... More

I came here with my b/f with our rental car. there is a decent size parking lot there and then you pay to go onto the grounds. you get clean bathrooms here and entrance to Shirley heights with the ticket (although we went to Shirley heights later for the sunset and no one was in the booth to look at... If you like to visit sites that offer historical value to your trip, please consider this stop as one of the must while you are in Antigua. The history of the dockyard and how it came to be, the job it did in the area, how the work was done, and so much more is fascinating to see in person.

Views of harbour great from Shirley heights but could not get much of a view when in dockyard itself, whole experience was underwhelming, could be done so much better, the tour is pretty basic, bakery is recommended by tour guide but really below par, trinkum gift shops, small museum, altogether disappointing. Hang onto ticket though as gets you upto Shirley... More

Parking was an issue but it was sailing week, however once inside the complex - $8 per person giving access also to Shirley Heights above English harbour this is good value. The museum is well laid out, informative and the many artefacts give a unique insight into Naval life during Lord Nelson's time and the importance of Antigua during the... More

I spent an afternoon walking the Harbor and looking at all the buildings from the Old Paymaster Building to the Governors quarters. Very interesting. Beautiful ships in Harbor. A few places to eat, though one pub I was interested in, was not serving food at 4
