The rabbi and congregants were extremely warm, which made us feel very welcomed. The service was in Hebrew (with transliterations so even I could follow along and participate) and English. It's an extremely small congregation, so half of the attendees that night were from the US (some even 5 miles from our house!) We'll definitely come again.

Recently my husband and I again travelled to Aruba with friends. I had read in Trip Advisor about the synagogue. Accompanied by our Jewish friends, my husband and I visited on a Friday night for Shabat (sp?). Although we are not Jewish we enjoyed the service and were warmly greeted by the congregation. The service was brief and we were... More

It is only one block off the main street in Oranjestad but get directions before you start out. We didn't but eventually found it. It is small by North American standards but welcoming and with an interesting history. You don't have to be Jewish to feel the warmth and caring of the community.

We always enjoy meeting people fom all walks of life. We arrived right before services, and were greeted by te rabbi. There were about 50 people in all, most of them tourists. People dressed differrnyy, from shorts, to a more moderate, modest dress. Men and women sit together, the service is held in english and hebrew. Afterwards, everyone is welcome... More

This is the only synagogue in Oranjestad. It is Conservative. They hold services every Friday night and are very welcoming. If you are looking to celebrate Shabbat, this is the place to go.

Beth Israel Synagogue is a conservative temple in Oranjestad, Aruba which we visited on Friday night for services. We were warmly welcomed by the Rabbi and his wife and enjoyed a festive and beautiful service. We were struck by the young local men and women who attended services, as well as the number of visitors to the island who attended.... More
