One of my favorite places. There's a beach on the side of it full of sea glass. We picked sea glass and returned to Somers Warf where we found Mrs. Kelly at her shop call Seaglass building #11 we had jewelry made with the Seaglass we found. Priceless!

A 30 minute walk from St. George's brings you to Alexandra Battery and beach. The battery is a small concrete structure with 2 large guns and provides a great view of the surrounding area. The beach is sheltered from the ocean and is known for beach glass. While it's not covered in beach glass as some describe, it's fun to... More

Ok, we confess... while there is interesting history at the Battery, but we went for the small band of smoothly buffed sea glass that is on the tide line of the small nearby beach. I believe that there is considerably LESS sea glass on this beach than at other locations, but as it is less popular- it was almost empty... More

if you are in St. George area - be sure to check out this fort location. It's completely free and you need to explore everything by yourself. That said the exhibits offer plenty explanation to soak in some military history of Bermuda and the fort is a great place to take pictures! Be sure to check our nearby Glass Beach!

With so many forts in Bermuda only a limited number can tell the full story; Fort Saint Catherine is the gem in this respect. Alexandra Battery has one item of specialist interest, a 9" rifled muzzling-loading gun with what is called a 'Gibraltar shield'; that is worth seeing. Otherwise you have to work things out for yourself. The guns on... More

This is a nice attraction but do not expect a well-developed tourist attraction. My comments below are not meant to be negative - I realize the tremendous cost in time, human effort and money that is required to renovate and maintain a historic site such as this - but I am obligated to give my honest and unbiased opinion. Below... More

We were dropped off at this beach via taxi taken from St. George for about $12. The beach is pretty- the sand is a lighter, paler pink (and a bit coarser), than the sand on the southern portion of the island. Alexandra Battery beach is small and secluded; on the day we visited there were only two other people on... More

Located a 15 - 20 minute or so walk from St. George, or a $10 taxi ride, this small beach is great for snorkeling and for picking up sea glass. A local lady was at the beach snorkeling and gave me some she found. I had a small zip-lock bag with some really pretty pieces in it but when we... More

This seems to be more of a "local" beach, and rather small, but if you collect sea glass - this is a GREAT place for that. Be sure to have beach sneakers or some type of beach footwear - not so much for the beach, but if you plan to go in the water - it is a little rocky.... More
