Cemeteries hold a wealth of information about the culture, traditions, history, illnesses, plagues, and art of the people buried within. Santa Ifigenia is outstanding for its monumental tombs. It is small in comparison with Colon cemetery in Havana, but definitely worth a visit. Most impressive...More

A friend and I were on a private tour when we visited. This cemetery is well-kept with several mausoleums of famous Cubans. Fidel's grave is there, guarded by the military and a site of great reverence. Cubans come with flowers in hand to honor him....More

We had a guided tour of the cemetery which was very interesting and informative about practices in Cuba. We also timed our visit to see the changing of the guard. Castro's ashes are also incased in a large stone in the cemetery today and usually...More

I enjoy seeing cemeteries as I travel, this is no exception. It's a short distance from the rum factory (with live music and hand rolled cigars or the name brand ones) and worth a visit. You can enter to see Fidel's massive tomb for free....More

This is a nice cemetery to walk around, but nothing like the scale or architectural interest of the Necropolis in Havana. The main attraction here is Fidel Castro's mausoleum, with the tomb of heroes and associated honour guard. You can queue to spend less than...More

We enjoyed our visit to this cemetery. The change of the guards at Jose Marti's Mausoleum took place while there. You can also see Fidel Castro's grave and the graves of the family members who started Bacardi rum in Cuba.

We saw the change of the gard, which was very special. Lots of important people, who fought for the indepence of Cuba, were buried in this cementery. Some of the tombs are pieces of architecture.

You cannot miss the cemetery when you visit the city! Seeing Fidel Castro's grave and the changing of the guard at Jose Marti's grave were both simply amazing. The changing of the guard is every 30 minutes and only takes a couple minutes to complete....More

I'm sorry that I'm unable to provide that information to you. There is very restricted Internet service in Cuba, so I don't know if there is any email for the cemetery and to my knowledge it does not have a website. I do... More
