Although there are three rooms downstairs , they are wide open to each other . The front room is for the music & dancing , the side room for overspill & the back room for the locals who just want a drink . We got there at 8.30pm , the music started half an hour later and we left around... More

A local told us about this traditional Cuban music/dancing venue. Easy to walk there from the central plaza. We came with a couple from the UK we met, and everyone had a fantastic time! She is a WONDERFUL salsa dancer. After she danced with her significant other, a Cuban was in 7th heaven as her next dance partner. Fantastic, live... More

Very hard to find as lonely planet as quite misleading. . . At the top of the Spanish steps there are two roads to the right, take the one further away from the steps and walk for 5 mins. It was like stumbling into a private gathering, the music was such quality and mostly Cubans there. Not giving 5 stars... More

If you want to enjoy an evening of great Cuban music, plenty of cubalibres, mojitos and lot of cubanness, this is the place to go. You may even enjoy the performance of energetic folklore dancers. Furthermore, it is located in the heart of el Tivoli our favorite area in Santiago.

Until you see it, you won't believe it. A first floor apartment in a rundown suburb has been converted into one of the best (and certainly the most interesting) music venues in Santiago. You pay 2 CUCs entrance before you climb the stairs and drinks are reasonable. There's a different band every night, a small crowded dance floor and a... More

Worth it for the drinks and the music. Easy to find, safe to walk to. Good salsa music. If you're tired of that kind of scene then you can skip

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and good music. A Bob Marley style guy invited ladies to dance and after dancing asked for a mojito. Strange, since he didn't dance very well!

This is a lovely bar that is a must visit. It is quite relaxed and had an amazing band playing while we were there. Santiago is known for having the best music in Cuba, this could well be the best place in Santiago to catch great music.

The place is currently under refurbishment (scheduled to be finished by July 2015) so there's only one room open and the dancing area is quite small butt it is worth a visit nevertheless! Authentic traditional atmosphere, with passionate musicians playing traditional cuban music.. A very different experience from your usual salsa bar and much better than Casa de la Trova.... More

It was a bit difficult to find, but it's worth it. Intimate space, and absolutely authentic traditional music. We went one Thursday night and arrived a bit early - 8pm -ish, and the band Sone de Oriente started 9 pm sharp. Cover charge was only 2 cuc. The place was filled with mix of locals and adventurous music enthusiasts.
